California Lighthouse Aruba: Scenic Views, History, and a Perfect First Stop
California Lighthouse is one of Aruba’s most recognizable landmarks and one of the best places to begin a day of exploring the island. Located on Aruba’s northwestern tip, this tall white lighthouse overlooks the coastline, desert landscape, nearby dunes, and the blue Caribbean Sea.

California Lighthouse is a great stop because it combines scenery, history, and convenience. It does not require a long hike, and it is easy to include in a half-day or full-day Aruba itinerary.
From the area around the lighthouse, you can see Aruba’s dry desert landscape on one side and the calm western coastline on the other. It is also close to some of the island’s best northern beach areas, including Arashi and Malmok.
Best Time to Visit
The best times to visit are early morning or late afternoon. Morning is quieter and cooler, while late afternoon offers softer light for photos. Sunset can also be beautiful, but it may be busier.
Visitor Tip
Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and water. The area is exposed and can feel hot during the middle of the day. If you are visiting as part of a Jeep or island tour, this stop usually works best at the beginning of the route before heading toward the north coast.
